Doncaster Features: Famous Doncastrian: Johnny Shentall
John Shentall
Johnny Shentall, the sensationally selected fifth member of public-picked pop band Hear'Say, went to McAuley School.
Shentall, from Doncaster and an ex-member of chart group Boom!, queued up with 3,000 other hopefuls and was chosen after two days of intensive auditions.
He will take the place of Kym Marsh, who left the band last month.
Shentall was the "cream of the crop" in the weekend's auditions, his new bandmates said on Tuesday.
Shentall told a press conference in London he was a fan of the band, saying: "I think they are great and I think they make people smile."
