Stone Arches

Hi. I am new to the forum and I hope this is the right place to ask this question.
I was wondering what was previously on the site of some flats which are called Stone Arches. They are behind York Road opposite the trading estate where Morissons is. Right under the roadway just behind the flats there are stone arches. Not being from this area, but having been a visitor to the flats I was wondering what was on this area in the past. Some houses on the other side (Northfield Road) look to be a lot older and I have had a look on some old maps but this area is a little unclear. Any information would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Indeed, and if you look at the Ordnance Survey map that stream drains a vast area of the West Riding. It was pretty silly to allow building on what is obviously a flood plain. No wonder the area suffered so much in the recent flooding.
