John Wesley Statue, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire

JOHN WESLEY STATUE

Local artist Henry Tilbury designed this statue to represent John Wesley, founder of the Wesleyan Methodists. He is depicted attired in a gown, with a Bible in his hand, preaching from a tombstone. He had once delivered a sermon from the stone above his father's grave in nearby Epworth churchyard.

It took a while to arrive however, having been shelved until finally erected in 2003!
