Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire
DONCASTER MUSEUM AND ART GALLERYDoncaster Museum and Art Gallery is situated in pleasant, enclosed gardens with seating; ideal for picnic lunches and supervised play. Opened in 1964, it tells the story of the Doncaster region using natural history, archaeology, local history, fine and decorative art. There is also a temporary exhibition programme and special events and activities.
The Regimental Museum of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry is located in the same building. The history of this famous Regiment is displayed here, and includes one of the most extensive medal collections to be exhibited in any Museum in this country.
Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery has recently been upgraded:
Ground floor Museum & Kings Own Light infantry Museum, Class Room Toilets and shop
On the upper floor there is an Art Gallery which has five functions:
A Main Temporary exhibition space for touring high quality, visual art exhibitions.
A community Gallery for community exhibitions and activities.
A gallery for art learning session with schools and families.
Two further galleries available for hire for meeting and functions.Street Map
