Doncaster Features: Famous Doncastrian: Rob Wilmot
Rob is co-founder of pioneering Internet Service Provider Freeserve and renowned Doncaster entrepreneur.
In 1998 Rob was a founding member of Freeserve, the phenomenally successful Internet Service Provider backed by Dixon Stores Group; where, after a successful floatation on the London Stock Exchange he became one of the youngest directors of a FTSE 100 company at the age of 29. Rob exited Freeserve after the completion of a £1.6 billion sale to Wanadoo in 2001.
Since then he has continued to invest in a range of technology, service and media companies, and serves as executive and non-executive director on a number of company boards as well as being the Chair of Governors for Doncaster College.
