I'm thinking of getting rid of my dog (cant think of a better way of putting that...)

 - I've a 6 year old Springer and its basically too much for us as a family. I've two young kids, another on the way and an elderly relation living with us...

We've had him since a puppy, he's very defensive around strangers, barks at the door when someone knocks etc and he's no good on the lead when going for walks. He's fine off the lead... but on it he pulls very hard for a small/medium sized dog.

I'm the only one of us who can walk him because of him pulling, and between looking after everyone and going to work I just dont have the time. It sounds harsh I know but I genuinely dont... and if anyone here has had a Springer then they'll understand how much exercise they need :)

... Anyway to the point of this post, whats the best way to re-home a loved pet? I dont want to put him in a shelter or anything as with him being 6 years old there would be less chance of him going to a much deserved loving home.

Hi, do you have a paper or weekly magazine that takes free advertising from subscribers,we have one here in Perth called The Quaoka, this is named afrer the small marsupials that live on Rotnest Island just off the west australian coast,Any how what I am suggesting is that you advertise your dog, with the volume of people in Britain even in your area someone is sure to apply for him. :te

Hi
I suggest you google springer spaniel rescue. They find good homes for springer spaniels. Or you could try Dogs Trust, they never put a dog down.
I had a springer and know just how much they pull and bounce. Springer by name, springer by nature.
If you contact a breed rescue group you are sure that the people who take him know what they are dealing with. They match dogs with suitable new owners who understand the breed.
Good luck
