Hiya everyone

Just to introduce myself, I'm Rennie Brown and just taken over the role in Doncaster Police as District Engagement Officer for the Doncaster area.  My role is to engage with all communities in Doncaster and develop ways that local people can have a local voice in local policing.  Shaping and influencing local policing to meet the needs of different communities in Doncaster.

One of the initiatives is IAG's Independent Advisory Groups and we are looking for Polish men and women to get invovled.

Doncaster Police is seeking individuals from the Doncaster area to advise the police on working with communities and delivering policing services

The Opportunity
 Doncaster Police are seeking to recruit individuals from BME, Gypsy & Travellers, East European, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual &Transgender communities to set up 3 separate Independent Advisory Group’s (IAG).  One as a Multi Cultural & Faith IAG, another as a Women’s Multi Cultural & Faith IAG and one as a LGB & T IAG.  The objective of these IAG's is to provide independent advice to the police on working and delivering policing services to these communities. These IAG's will assist with the shaping and influencing provision through advising the police on how to achieve accessible and responsive policing services for the these communities.

Skills Required
Some of the key skills required include;

? Having an understanding and appreciation of these communities issues and concerns;
? Communication skills;
? A commitment to improving community relations with the police;
? Debating issues in a professional and considerate manner.

More information about the opportunity
The Independent Advisory Group’s will meet in the evening, within the Doncaster Area. In addition, members will have the opportunity to join task groups to exercise influence in specific areas of policing.

Relevant training will be provided including a one day induction session.

#-o  Thanks for that,  my mistake I'll change it to include Central Europe, that's exactly why we need people from different communities to advise us and become our "critical friends".
