I've considered if it's commercially viable before and I think there must be plenty of various conditions realized. I won't pay a lot in pounds for bigos or schabowy when it's worth few zlotys in Poland and I don't think I'm original. Probably the best way to get to other than Polish people is something like Chlopskie jadlo - not cheap, but big portions of country food in good quality. It isn't the first time when someone is trying to offer cookery from middle-eastern Europe, there are pancakes and something near Iceland, both with Polish food. There is Prague pub as well. Nevertheless, I think in take away - fast food business the best selling goods will remain pizza and kebab. Our traditional kitchen doesn't have examples like these (placki ziemniaczane?). On the other hand I can't see any Polish posh restaurant competing with French or Japanese. I doubt it is a good idea to build on best Polish bear and vodka myth. This is why probably a reason to regret is Polish bakery lack of success , that we also had here, in Doncaster.

Kuchnia Polska (Kuchnia Polska Limited) is owned by Dr. Krystyna Ciuraj and Nic Davison (Mr). The Manageress is Mrs Dorota Jasieniak-McCallum comming to us straight from Donny's twin-town Gliwice. All food and beer will be Polish, Zywiec, Tyskie and Lech (draught and bottled). The two cooks are both Polish and the Chef too will be Polish. There will be interviews for jobs with Dorota (assisted by Mr Krzysztof Charber current PSiD president and head chef of McAuley school) starting 16 March 2008. Kuchnia Polska is being presently renovated by Mr Juliusz Bajkowski T/A Heritage Construction, with luck on our side we plan to open Kuchnia Polska on 3 May 2008 (Polish Constutution Day).
Watch the blackboards outside the premises for more info on jobs and interviews etc.
And let me tell anyone that has not experienced the absolute delights of great Polish cuisine, then try it please, you will be amazed with it. French is French and Italian is Italian, but really Polish is something entirely different, ask Mr Tony Sockett - Leader of DMBC if you need a reference on Polish cuisine.

My grandparents were both Polish, not knowing a great deal about Poland or Polish food myself, it would be interesting to try it as the closest I got was sauerkraut in Sheffield (it's German, I know )

I actually wanted to pop in there today with my husband and our little one, but there was no menu outside to have a look at, so I just looked inside, stand in entrance for a while and nobody was bothered:( So the first impression was - not very inviting place. Everybody sitting inside seemed to be have been waiting for their orders for ages. Has any of you been there and can tell anything about food and prices?

cherokee I have been there but did not order anything to be honest so can't comment on prices (did not even look at the menu). As far am aware yesterday at 7pm was official opening but only to people invited.

I noticed this whilst walking through town on Saturday. I have never tried Polish cuisine, so would be interested in trying something different. Maybe, if they make it more welcoming I will give it a try

I went in on Saturday afternoon - food was good both taste and portion wise. Cost £6 for a soup and main on the lunch menu. Service needs some attention but I've had worse service in Donny. Excellent deserts - I bought some cake for takeout. Would recommend it.

Oh, so that's reasonable I think, 6 quid. Tried again yesterday, hoping for menu outside, still wasn't there. Will have to fetch my hubby there now, three times lucky, innit?
