Well, eldest has started early start Nursery, going in the afternoons. Any tips on how to make him stop crying when I have to leave?

I don't fuss over him, just prise him off me, hand him to the teacher and tell him I will be back when it's finishing time and then  I leave. I do have a nosey through the window on my way out to see what he is doing and he is usually sat on someones knee, with them trying to calm him down.

He is great when I pick him up though - all smiles, cuddles and 'I love you', so he obviously enjoys it in the end, it's just the start!

How long has he been going? I mean, he isn't as bad as another little girl who started at the same time, but nevertheless, it just seems so awful to dump him and run, cos that's what I have to do. The less I fuss, the less time he cries.

Saying that, so far this week, no tears, but this is afternoon 3 and he has been to playgroup this morning and is already saying he is tired! Got a feeling there is a tantrum coming up!!  :(

After that first week, he hasn't complained yet!! I learned from him that they have 'Mummy time' which is when they get them all to fetch their coats ready for hometime. After that, when he goes into the class, he cuddles me, we exchange 'I love you' and then I tell him I will see him at 3:30 which he knows is Mummy time.

He loves going and on Monday of this week I had to keep him off for the 24 hour grace period after him having a loose bum all weekend. He was gutted he couldn't go and I got a 'yipee' out of him when I dressed him in his uniform on Tuesday. They are on strike tomorrow so I am having to think of something to keep him entertained!!
