Doncaster Features: Blackpool 1 Doncaster Rovers 1

Doncaster will be disappointed to have only won a point in Blackpool after the seasiders had a man sent off early on.

Michael McIndoe overcame a chest infection to be on the bench for Rovers today as an almost full strength squad took on Blackpool.

The game got off to a good start with the first effort coming after 39 seconds; Martin Bullock watching his 25-yard piledriver fly over the bar.

Doncaster had the first real chance on 6 minutes when Ricky Ravenhill’s shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Lee Jones and Wellens cleared the resulting corner.

Parker missed an effort for Blackpool before Richard Wellens was harshly dismissed for violent conduct after pushing Tim Ryan in the chest.

Martin Bullock had a 25-yard effort comfortably saved by Doncaster’s on-loan goalkeeper Iain Turner before Ravenhill smashed his effort over the bar from a similar distance.

Turner was in action again after McGregor shot from the left side of the box and a minute later, Murphy had a similar effort for Blackpool but Turner was equal to them both.

Rovers went close on 21 minutes when Rigoglioso had his shot deflected for a corner from which Lee Jones made a good save from.

A hammered shot by Jermaine McSporran was well saved by the Blackpool goalkeeper before Blackpool’s Jamie Burns lost his marker in the box and got a header on goal which ended up being a comfortable save for Turner.

Coppinger had his header punched clear of the box on 36 minutes before Doncaster finally used their man advantage to take the lead.

Tim Ryan was the hero. Ryan had a 25-yard piledriver saved by Jones and the resulting corner fell to Ryan and from a similar distance he hammered into the top-left corner to give Rovers a well deserved lead.

Murphy had a header caught easily by Turner before Tim Ryan had another ambitious attempt from 30 yards but this time it sailed over the bar.

Doncaster went in winning at half-time and came out at the start of the second half looking for more goals against a rattled 10-men Blackpool.

Rigoglioso put a half-chance wide 5 minutes into the second period which he will have regretted not doing better with, as on 53 minutes, 10-men Blackpool equalised through John Murphy when he slotted home into the bottom right hand corner from 6 yards.

Doncaster tried to put themselves in front again, Coppinger and Mulligan both shooting wide fro distance.

Penney tried to muster some attacking force by throwing Blundell and McIndoe on but neither could get the winner.

Clarke drilled over the bar with an ambitious 35-yard attempt which was followed by a great McSporran shot which was tipped over by Jones.

Time was running out and Neil Roberts came on for Fortune-West who hadn’t had a chance all game.

McSporran who had been working hard all day had a shot blocked by Clarke, and McIndoe had his shot charged down at the death by Bullock for a share of the points.

FINAL SCORE: 1-1
