Maybe once upon a time you've lost a £10-winning lotto ticket yourself and chalked it up to inexperience and mended that hole in your pocket. But spare a thought for the person from Doncaster who, for reason unknown, failed to claim a whopping £9.4 million jackpot back in 2005, the biggest ever unclaimed win in the history of the National Lottery.

Despite a huge amount of publicity both locally and nationally, including the efforts of Doncaster's Town Crier, the prize was not claimed within 180 days of the draw and went to fund good causes instead.
