Ian Duerden has been ruled out of Saturdays home game against Sutton.
Last season's top scorer missed the trip to Scarborough on Monday with a thigh injury and is still not fit. Fellow striker Glenn Kirkwood is also doubtful after going down with flu symptoms this week. Kirkwood managed just 45 minutes in a friendly match last night. Doncaster-born striker Neil Illman scored the only goal of the game to secure a Rovers XI a 1-0 win over the Northern Counties East league Premier Division side. Rovers side was made up of mostly youth team players, with a few trialists, and Asda manager and useful goalkeeper Peter Brigdam thrown in for good measure.
Illman, whose family still live in the Doncaster area, has signed for Rovers on a non-contract deal, and will come into contention for a place against Sutton on Saturday, after training at Belle Vue for the last couple of weeks. He is a former member of the Junior Rovers, and was released by Nationwide Conference rivals Northwich, after spending most of this season sidelined with an ankle injury. A 24 year old striker, Illman's previous clubs include Plymouth, Exeter, Middlesborough and Cambridge United.
Boss Ian Snodin said of the player: 'Neil hasn't played for four months due to an ankle injury and last night was his first game back, but he played very well.
He has caused us problems when he played against us and I am considering offering him a non-contract deal. He could come into contention for the game against Sutton if Glenn (Kirkwood) is ruled out' he added.
