Doncaster News and Features: SNODIN GETS TOUGH WITH PREMIERSHIP BIG-BOYS

Rovers boss cancels trial periods...
Rovers boss Ian Snodin has told the Doncaster Star that he will not be pushed around by Premiership clubs wanting to sign wing-back Simon Marples. Several clubs have shown an interest in the player, who was a 12,000 capture from local league side Stocksbridge Park Steels only 4 months ago. After a third Premiership club approached Snodin wanting to take the player for a weeks trial, the boss has vetoed bids for Marples to spend a week with Everton and Sunderland. Snodin intends to recoup the going rate for the player if it comes to it, and clubs will have to make an offer in excess of 200,000.

Snodin said: "If someone's interested in him then let them make a bid. There are three of four clubs showing an interest. They can come down and watch the boy and make a bid if they're interested. I'm not prepared to keep farming him out on trial."

"We are under no pressure to sell although Simon knows I wouldn't stand in his way if a big club came in for him. But any deal would have to be right for Doncaster Rovers and the player himself."

Snodin went on to deny reports in the press and on the Internet that Doncaster have offered 35,000 plus two players in exchange for Scarborough striker Chris
