Doncaster News and Features: TATE TARGET FOR RYAN

Rovers in failed cash plus players deal for Seadog...
It has been revealed that Doncaster have made an unsuccessful bid to bring Scarborough striker Chris Tate to Belle Vue. However, Chairman John Ryan will be determined to get his man this time, after failing in two previous bids to sign a proven striker, those for Stevenage's Carl Alford and Morecambe striker Justin Jackson. Wrexham have also been trying to sign the striker, but 'Boro manager Colin Addison has issued a strict 'hands off' to all interested parties.

The rejected deal, touted as being worth 125k, would be Tate's third move this season, having scored twice against the Rovers for two different teams. The offer is said to involve two Rovers players, along with 35,000 cash. Scarborough showed an interest in skilful midfielder Martin Foster earlier this season, and he has supposedly been offered as part of the deal.

The player started this season at the McCain stadium, before moving to 3rd division football with Halifax Town in a deal worth 100,000. The Seadogs then showed their ambition to regain League status by re-signing him, for a fee of 80,000. Tate scored the opening goal during Rovers 2-0 FA Cup defeat against Halifax in October, before opening his account for Scarborough in the 1-0 Boxing day defeat at Belle Vue.
