Doncaster Rovers Players
Chris Balderstone
Chris managed somehow to play football while also a strong bowler, batsmen and fielder for his county and his country.
One of his 32 first-class hundreds made over two days included a league appearance for Doncaster Rovers. After retirement he joined the first-class umpires list,
and officiated in two one-day internationals.
Rufus Brevett
Tough tackling ever-smiling left back, came through the youth ranks to go on and play for QPR and now Fulham in the Premiership.
Brian Deane
The gangly youth team player who struggled to lift Rovers when elevated to the first team but since played for Sheff Utd, Leeds, Benfica and Sunderland.
Steve Gaughan
Played for Hatfield Main before joining Rovers at youth level in the same team as Rankine, Deane and Brevett making 67 appearances for the first team. A cultured winger who went on to play for Sunderland and Darlington.
Alick Jeffrey
Probably the greatest ever player to play for the Rovers, Alick went on to the verge of a glorious England career before a broken leg put pay to that.
Mark Rankine
Youth team and senior team midfield legend from the eighties, now plying his trade for Division 1 Preston.
Charlie Williams MBE
Doncaster's groundbreaking comedian who was a regular stand-up on 70's comedy TV show, first shone in the number 5 shirt for Doncaster Rovers in 1955. A tough centre back he stayed with Rovers for 5 years before moving into showbiz.

Gillian Coultard
Phenomenal player for the Doncaster Belles, still going strong having joined them in 1977, captain of the England team with a record 117 caps to her name (so far).

Growing up in Armthorpe, supporting the Rovers, and being rejected by Rovers for being too small, never affected the remarkable career of Kevin Keegan. Setting Anfield, St. James Park and Wembley on fire as a player, and then much success as a manager of Newcastle, Fulham and England, this Doncaster boy is a living legend.

The Barnsley and Huddersfield player lived for a time in Skellow and went to Norton Junior & Campsmount School.
David Pegg
David Pegg was born in Doncaster, a prodigious youngster he was courted by many top clubs until Manchester United snapped him up to replace Tom Finney. He twice won championship medals, played once for England before being one of the tragic victims of the Munich disaster, aged only 23.
