1611: Sir Ralph Hansby leases Tickhill Castle from King James I for 41 years.
1815: Father of computing, mathematician and inventor of algebra George Boule, who taught in Doncaster, was born in Lincoln.
1829: The Deaf and Dumb Institution officially opened opposite the racecourse in Eastfield House.
1914: Wheatley moves from West Riding of Yorkshire to Doncaster administrative control.
1991: Manager Steve Beaglehole's first game in charge of Doncaster Rovers, away at Mansfield.
